1,000 Monologues Challenge
1,000 Monologues Challenge
An archive of performance, process, and craft - one monologue at a time - one thousand times.

You know the parable about the pottery teacher that split their class into halves? One half would be graded on a single piece that they spend the entire session perfecting. The other would be graded on sheer volume of work alone, so they just had to work as much as possible. As the story goes, the group that created a lot of imperfect pottery saw their skills sky rocket just from doing the thing.
I created the 1,000 Monologues Challenge in this spirit. It is my goal to study, learn, and explore 1,000 monologues, in whatever capacity I can at the time. It’s designed to foster consistent progress, endless discovery, and working no matter what is happening in the industry or world.
I’m documenting it on YouTube. The videos include a monologue in some form and an actor-forward breakdown of the piece. It is NOT perfect. But it is honest, real, and the best effort I can give at the time.
The monologues span tone and genre. They may be polished performances, works in progress, repeated pieces, a simulated audition scenario, or even just something experimental for fun.
The challenge launched in July 2025 and will continue until it hits 1,000 - whenever that may be! It is at 70+ monologues and counting.
